Academy Mourns Loss of Promising Athlete and Airman

The United States Air Force Academy is mourning the loss of Cadet 3rd Class Hunter Brown, who passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at the age of 21. According to the Academy, Brown was found unresponsive in his dorm room and pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Brown was an offensive lineman on the Air Force football team and a member of the Cadet Wing's 34th Cadet Squadron. He was well-respected by his teammates, coaches, and fellow cadets for his dedication, hard work, and positive attitude.

The cause of Brown's death is still under investigation, but the Academy has confirmed that it was a medical emergency. The Academy is providing support and counseling services to Brown's family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.

In a statement released by the Academy, Superintendent Lt. Gen. Richard Clark said, "Hunter was an exceptional young man who embodied the ideals of the Air Force and the Air Force Academy. He was a talented athlete, a dedicated cadet, and a loyal friend. His loss is a tremendous blow to our community, and he will be deeply missed."
