Jamal Lewis: Watford Defender Set for Season-Long Loan Move
Northern Ireland International to Join Hornets
Loan Deal to Boost Watford's Backline
Newcastle United left-back Jamal Lewis is poised to join Watford on a season-long loan, according to reports. The 24-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at St. James' Park following the arrival of Matt Targett and has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Eddie Howe.
Watford are in need of reinforcements in the left-back position, with Danny Rose and Adam Masina both struggling with injuries. Lewis, who has won 30 caps for Northern Ireland since making his debut in 2018, would provide competition for Jeremy Ngakia and provide some much-needed depth to the Hornets' defense.
The move is expected to be completed in the coming days, subject to a medical. If it goes through, Lewis will become Watford's second signing of the summer following the arrival of free agent defender Mattie Pollock.
