The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has begun scrutiny of nomination papers for 48 Senate seats, including 12 each from Punjab and Sindh, 11 from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and two from the Islamabad Capital Territory.

Scrutiny Process

The ECP will scrutinize the nomination papers of candidates for completeness, validity, and compliance with election laws and regulations. The process involves verifying the identity and eligibility of candidates, checking their educational qualifications, and assessing their financial statements.

During the scrutiny process, candidates may be required to provide additional documents or information to support their nominations. Any objections raised against candidacies will also be considered and adjudicated by the ECP.

The scrutiny process is expected to continue for several days, with the final list of eligible candidates being published by the ECP in due course.
